What does it mean to be healthy?



It’s a word often thrown around: “Oh, she’s so healthy,”; “You should eat healthier,”; “I wish I could be as healthy as her,”.

But… what does healthy really mean? Are you considered healthy if you’re anorexic? Do you have to be a certain weight to be healthy? Do you have to be on a diet? Skinny? Are you healthy even if you’re overweight? Does being healthy mean you spend hours in the gym?

For most people, a stereotypical “healthy” person was someone who was skinny, spent hours in the gym, and controlled what they ate. Contrary to popular belief, a healthy person might not be any of the above!

#SelfLove | How and why you should start loving yourself



In a world where we’re raised to put others’ needs first, practicing self-love might seem wrong. We weren’t taught to love ourselves at school, at home or at all. We learned how to help others, how to get a job, and how to make money, but we never learned how to take care of ourselves.

Self Love is important to a healthy & inspirational life. It affects our choices, how we treat other people, and how we cope with different things. I can’t stress how important it is to practice self-love.

I’ve been there. Stressed, tired, short on time, and hopeless. Self-love can solve all those problems.

But what exactly is self-love?

According to Google, Self Love “regard for one’s own well-being and happiness (chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic).”

But you know what? It’s so much more than that. It’s a state of mental peace. Of being okay with your body, of being happy.

Here are my top 5 ways to practice self-love.

1. Stay Positive

Sometimes all you need is to be positive. Don’t let the inner critic in you control your mood and your choices. Know that you have both strengths and weaknesses, and choose to focus on your strengths – nobody is perfect, and you don’t have to be.   Choose to be your best coach/cheerleader.

2. Live a balanced life:

Remember that your body is a living love vessel. You won’t be able to perform at your mental and physical best until you’re giving your body the care and love it needs. Be mindful of what you’re fueling your body with, and give yourself the sleep, rest, nutrition, and exercise it deserves.

3.  Be okay with yourself:

One of the hardest acts of self-love is accepting your body as a whole – the good and the bad. Realize that beauty has no definition. Don’t let the photoshopped magazine pictures make you hate your body. Stop the comparisons. You are you. The only person you should compete against is your old self.

4. Forgive yourself:

You know that thing you did a while back and how it made you feel upset, embarrassed, ashamed, and angry? Well, it’s time to let that go. Nobody is perfect. There’s no use beating yourself up over it – it’s already happened. Remember – there is no failure if you learn and grow from your mistakes – there is only growth. You can’t change the past, but you can control the future. Look at it as a learning experience.

5. Have fun:

Have fun! You know that thing that gets you super excited but nervous at the same time? Go do it! Get out there and do the things that light your fire. Enjoy them and enjoy being you.

So these are my top 5 tips for practicing self-love. Remember: although we usually forget it, self-love is one of the most important things ever. So this Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to treat yourself and give your body the love it deserves.
